Playstation Now asks gamer to wait for their turn to play

According to Sony, their Playstation Now service “delivers unlimited access to a growing library of over 500 PS4 and PS3 games, all with one subscription. Stream directly to your PS4 or Windows PC.”

Unfortunately, “unlimited access” was not the case for this frustrated gamer, who posted an image when asked to wait for his turn to play.

“Your turn is coming up” in an “Estimated: 4 mins” is Sony’s message. The options are ‘Leave the Line’ or ‘Que in the Background’ while playing ‘non-streaming games’.

And what if a few gamers ahead of you play marathon sessions or pause the game and walk away? I had ignorantly assumed the games would be available for unlimited streaming from the magical PS Now server, but I suppose it’s more realisitc to assume there are PS4s or less elegant rows of servers with PS4 guts running these games.

The internet was sharp to react with more accurate names for the PS Now service.

My Experience with PS Now

Offered either a free or discounted month, I gave it a shot and was somewhat impressed. I used the oppurtunity to play through both Uncharted 3 and 2 (in that order for some reason, and now I like 3 best). For a twitchy action game I didn’t notice any lag. I had a fairly great hard-wired connection at the time, which I imagine is a must.

It wasn’t perfect though. The biggest problem came when my entire save file was deleted! It was resolved fairly quickly however, and within a day or two I had my save restored by Sony’s online support team.

If you didn’t have a PS4 I could see the appeal, but for PS4 owners, it still feels too expensive for a growing library of older games.
