Phoenix Point is being crowdfunded

Phoenix Point is the turn-based strategy game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop. He created Snapshot Games in 2013 where they had a successful Kickstarter for their first project, Chaos Reborn. The development studios is formed of veterans from Ubisoft, Crytek, Black Sea and other studios.

Their new project is called Phoenix Point and is styled similar to the X-Com games. However, the game will have a unique twist formed from intense boss battles. These boss battles will feature monsters with multiple abilities for players to strategically battle.

It’s set on Earth in the year 2057 where humanity’s population have been almost destroyed by a strange virus. However, humans have survived across the planet in different locations. These locations are controlled by Factions with different ideologies.

While the factions may be different, there is a worldwide organisation fighting back. The Phoenix Project has been set-up to fight this new threat and save the remaining humans. Players will be controlling a single “Cell” or group within the organisation. This group will be made up of soldiers, scientists and more.

The crowdfunding campaign is currently taking place on Fig. There are various different pledge amounts and rewards. Users who would like to grab a copy of the game can pledge $30 to the project. Anyone who pledges at least $10 will be given a Steam copy of Chaos Reborn. As the project is on Fig, users can also Invest in the project.

The developers haven’t provided a release date for the game just yet. However, they did note that the game is expected for release by the end of 2018. The reason for this is that they need to expand their team for the project.

While it may take some time before the game is released, we will provide you with updates about the game over the coming years.
