Blizzard’s FPS game has just gone over the 30 million player mark. The developer announced the news on Twitter with a gif saying “30 million players and rising”.
The Twitter post states “Thanks for grouping up with us, heroes. We couldn’t ask for a better team” as a thank you to their loyal players.
Overwatch first launched in May last year and is approaching the one year mark. The player base for the game is still steadily increasing despite how ‘old’ the game is. According to Polygon, Overwatch reached 15 million players in October and by late January over 25 million people had played the game.
These are astounding numbers for any game and Blizzard should be super pleased with themselves. The popularity of Overwatch doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
The game is currently available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It doesn’t seem likely that there will be a Nintendo Switch port.
