Nintendo Switch Mystery Game Listings Appear on Amazon

Online retailer Amazon recently added listings for eighteen Nintendo Switch games to their site, the price points of which range from $59.99 to $99.99. None of the listed games have been given titles, but they add to evidence that Nintendo is hosting a Direct live stream this month loaded with surprises.

The Nintendo Switch placeholders on Amazon, first spotted by Cheap Ass Gamer, are somehow already available for purchase, and with Prime pre-order discounts as well. Although you can’t know exactly what you’re getting, many fans have already pre-ordered the more expensive listings in case they turn out to be limited special editions.

What’s more, the placeholders all feature an image saying, “Just announced at the Nintendo Switch event.” This has led to even more people believing a Nintendo Direct is coming very soon. A leaked internal EA email from last month indicated a Direct would occur in January 2018. The leak only listed Zoink’s Fe as a featured game for the presentation, but the new Amazon listings have fans hoping for bigger reveals.

Some of the Nintendo Switch placeholders could be for games that have already been revealed but have yet to receive release dates or retail listings. Kirby Star AlliesMetroid Prime 4, Shin Megami Tensei, and the untitled Yoshi game are popular contenders. As for new reveals, many fans are hoping for Nintendo IP’s like Super Smash Bros. and Pokémon, as well as some AAA third-party announcements. The Switch has been a great home for indie titles as well, so more games from smaller developers are likely to come up at a Nintendo presentation.

A Nintendo Direct has not been officially confirmed by the company, but the timing makes sense since the Big N held a Direct presentation in January 2017. We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
