Nintendo Switch Gets 16 New Games This Week

  • January 19, 2018
  • Mischa McGill

It’s time for another batch of new Nintendo Switch games, and this week we’re seeing 16 titles being added to the console’s library, as well as downloadable content for one game. Most of the new releases are available today, January 18th, but some launch throughout the week.

All the hybrid console’s new titles except one are available exclusively on the Switch eShop as digital downloads. The one seeing a physical release is Lost Sphear, a JRPG from Tokyo RPG Factory and the spiritual successor to the studio’s first game, I Am Setsuna. Lost Sphear releases on January 23rd for $49.99.

As for the digital titles, many are up on the eShop now. Releases for January 18th are headlined by Darkest Dungeon, a challenging, gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. In it, you recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Download it now for $24.99.

In addition to the 16 new titles, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is seeing its first round of DLC this week. The DLC includes five new quests unlocked throughout the story, as well as a pack of items that will be helpful in your adventuring. You must purchase the $29.99 Expansion Pass for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to receive the downloadable content, which goes live at 9:00 p.m. PT / midnight ET tonight.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
