Nintendo Stealth-Releases Rhythm Heaven Megamix

As the resident Nintendo fanboy here at A 90s Kid, it’s my job to make sure that you guys stay up to speed on all of the weird and wonderful Nintendo news that you might otherwise miss. It’s a tough job, it’s a thankless job, but someone has to do it. Today marked the last day of Nintendo’s “Treehouse: Live at E3” live stream, and I’d be remiss not to direct your attention toward a fantastic game that Nintendo just released out of nowhere.

Rhythm Heaven Megamix is a collection of wacky, addictive, bite-sized rhythm games that I swear you won’t be able to put down once you start playing. The Rhythm Heaven series has been fairly well received in the West, but it always does much better in the East because Japan is cooler than we are, and much more open to the wild and at time incoherent presentation of games such as this. If you’ve ever played a WareWare game then you know roughly what to expect.

Megamix is like a “best of” collection, taking the craziest games and catchiest tunes from the entire library of Rhythm Heaven games from the GBA, DS, and Wii and combining them all in a new narrative. Some fan favorites have been remixed in special game modes, and there are even new games and songs to play for the first time. In all, there are 70+ toe-tapping mini games to master, as well as multiplayer and streetpass features.

Nintendo totally stealth-released this one as an eShop exclusive with next to no fanfare, and I’ll be damned if I let it go unnoticed. Grab this game if you need some WTF in your life.
