The debut trailer for Ready or Not has just arrived. The new tactical shooter appears to be a spiritual successor to the SWAT series however, it does have some Rainbow Six inspired elements.
According to the official website, the game has been in development since June, 2016. The blog post from developer Void Interactive confirms the features of the game.
Players will take the role of a member of an “elite SWAT team”. The team has been tasked with “defusing hostile situations in intense, claustrophobic environments”. The game is set during a time where America has been plunged into chaos.
The developers confirm that while this will be a single player game primarily, there will also be co-op and a PvP multiplayer. In single player, gamers will be able to direct and command their AI team. The blog post confirms that up to 8 players can play together in co-op.
The blog post also confirms that the developers are planning to allow for squad competitive play. This will allow up to 10 players to work together in PvP and co-op to earn rewards. There will also be a yearly leader-board where players can earn unique skins.
As part of the key features outlined, the developers note that there will also be a variety of non-lethal options. This includes the use of pepper spray, tasers and a beanbag shotgun.
The official website goes into more detail about the features.
Currently, there is no release date for the game. Void Interactive hasn’t made any statements about when the game will be released. The blog post from the developers does mention the use of a mouse wheel which confirms that the game will be available for PC. It’s uncertain what other platforms the game will be on.
