Megaton Rainfall is a new superhero simulator. Players are put in control of an “indestructable interdimensional superbeing”. The game was first announced several years ago but it’s finally getting ready for release.

At the start of the game, players will be able to patrol the entirety of Earth. From the “bottom of the ocean to the stratosphere,” as they search for threats. As the game progresses, players will be able to fly to the moon and even walk on the sun itself.

The planet is facing a global alien invasion and it’s up to the player to stop the destruction of every city on the planet. However, the players immense power comes with a downside. A basic shot can destroy entire buildings if one of them accidentally hits a building. As the powers increase the strength, their devastating effect increases to the point where it’s possible to destroy entire cities if an attack misses. While something such as telekinesis can save humans by stopping grenades, it can also send vehicles flying down the street.

Developer Pentadimensional announced their game on the PlayStation blog. They state that players need to use their abilities carefully and add that there will be a leaderboard in the game. This leaderboard will show the top players in both time and human causalities where less death is better. However, we don’t currently know if there will be any other categories.

So while this is a single player game, there’s a competitive element. There’s no word yet on a multiplayer mode.

Megaton Rainfall will be arriving for PlayStation 4 and PSVR first. PS4 Pro owners can expect to play the game in full 4K resolution. In addition to this, the game will be coming to PC via Steam in the future. We’ll update you once we know more.
