A new Mythical Pokémon has been discovered in Alola, and it’s name is Marshadow. This ghoulish creature will be coming to Pokémon Sun and Moon soon. Watch the brief reveal video for Marshadow below.

As for more details, The Pokémon Company has only said, “Marshadow cannot be encountered in normal gameplay.” But never fear! Data miners have leaked the new creature’s type and stats. Because we just can’t wait for anything.

According to Bulbapedia, Marshadow is a dual Fighting/Ghost Type with the nickname Gloomdweller Pokémon. Its base stats are HP 90, Attack 125, Defense 80, Special Attack 90, Special Defense 90, and Speed 125. Not too shabby.

We don’t know what this Pokémon’s shiny version looks like yet, but I’m sure it’s just as adorable.

Marshadow’s Pokédex entries are the following:

  • Sun: “Able to conceal itself in shadows, it never appears before humans, so its very existence was the stuff of myth.”
  • Moon: “It lurks in the shadows of others, copying their movements and powers. This Pokémon is craven and cowering.”

Yet another ominous and creepy Pokédex entry for Sun and Moon. I dig it.

While the reveal video was quite short, you can also get another look at Marshadow in the newly released trailer for Pokemon: The Movie – I Choose You.

You can see the Gloomdweller Pokémon around 33 seconds in the above video rising out of the ground like a ghost. The new Pokémon movie is set to release in Japan on July 15th.

The Pokémon Company assured players they’ll hear more information about Marshadow, including how to obtain one, soon. We’ll keep you posted on any news about adding this Mythical Pokémon to your team.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
