Capcom recently announced a Switch version of Monster Hunter XX with a surprise reveal. The new version now has a trailer and some interesting multiplayer and data transfer details.
Monster Hunter XX is an expanded version of the title Monster Hunter Generations, which released for 3DS systems in July 2016. Generations released earlier in Japan under the name Monster Hunter X, thus the new expanded version’s extra “X.”
The 3DS already has its version of Monster Hunter XX, which released back in March, and the Switch port is gearing up to launch in Japan this summer on August 25th. Retail copies will go for ¥5,800 ($52) each, while the digital version will cost a bit less at ¥5,546 ($49.82).
No information on an international release was given, but Monster Hunter games normally spend a few months in localization before heading westward. Capcom should have more to say at E3.
Capcom also revealed a special edition Switch bundle, pictured above, which will launch alongside the game in Japan. The bundle includes a special Monster Hunter-themed Switch dock, in addition to a copy of Monster Hunter XX. It will retail for ¥36,280 ($325.87).
This port is getting a nice graphics boost, boasting a 1080p resolution when docked and 720p in handheld mode. It will also have an improved UI that utilizes the Switch’s features.
Additionally, Capcom announced data can be transferred from Monster Hunter X / Generations to the Switch Monster Hunter XX, though it’s a one-way transfer. Thankfully the 3DS and Switch versions of Monster Hunter XX will be able to transfer data back and forth without restrictions.
What’s more, owners of the Switch and 3DS versions of Monster Hunter XX can play online together, though cross-play local multiplayer is not allowed. Both online and local multiplayer are available between players on the same platform.

Very exciting can't wait for it to come West. Nintendo doesn't put a lot of effort into separating their limited edition bundles from the rest of the pack.. No local multiplayer little disappointing considering all Nintendo's commercials with multiple sitting around a room playing games together.
Local multiplayer is allowed between the same consoles! Just not local Switch/3DS multiplayer. Sorry that wasn't clear in the article, I've clarified it now!
That’s bullcrap. Nintendo DOES but a lot of effort into separating their limited edition bundles from the rest of the pack. Yes multiplayer . It isn’t disappointing. Most of Nintendo’s commercials didn’t show multiple people sitting in the room playing games together
