Infinity Ward is expanding the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta beyond multiplayer. Pre-order customers will get access to the campaign mission “Entrenched” when the test begins on August 21, while Warzone joins during the second weekend.
That makes Modern Warfare 4’s beta a first for the series. Players will be able to sample multiplayer, part of the campaign, and Warzone across two separate stages.
“Entrenched” brings a campaign mission to the beta
Infinity Ward’s “Entrenched” mission follows a squad of South Korean marines and an embedded American during an uphill offensive amid North Korea’s invasion of South Korea. The teaser shows trenches, APCs, shotguns, and a close-quarters fight involving an NPC ally.
Call of Duty published the first-party teaser, , giving players an early look at the mission’s setting and combat. The footage presents a slice of the campaign rather than a conventional multiplayer match.
Warzone joins during the second weekend
Warzone will appear in a Call of Duty beta for the first time during the second weekend, which runs from August 28 to September 1 and opens access to everyone. The new Zodiac Resurgence map will also be playable during that period.
The beta will provide an early test of how Warzone fits alongside Modern Warfare 4’s gameplay refinements. Infinity Ward has highlighted changes involving muzzle flash, hipfire, and movement, but the supplied reporting does not detail how those changes will work in Warzone.
Two weekends create a wider test
