Konami presented a new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer during the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, showing the 2004 stealth game rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The remake retains the original story, characters, voice performances, gameplay framework and music. Its environments and character models are rebuilt, but Konami’s pitch was preservation rather than a rewritten campaign.
Damage that remains visible
The upgraded damage system records wear on Snake’s clothing and leaves bruises and bullet wounds visible. Players can also choose between a modern control style and a classic option designed to resemble the original experience.
Konami did not announce dynamic 4K, a locked 60fps mode, real-time mud simulation or a formal foliage-deformation specification in the Showcase material. A trailer cannot establish those performance claims on its own.
The practical appeal is straightforward: modern controls may make the jungle easier to read and navigate, while the classic option gives returning players a route closer to the 2004 design. Final frame pacing and image quality still require measured testing.
