Bungie released Marathon Update 1.1.5 on July 21, 2026. Its largest addition was Vault Breaker, an experimental PvE mode, alongside voice reporting, moderation tools and an option to skip the introductory cinematic.
Weapon and presentation changes
The update adjusted the Twin Tap HBR’s damage and precision behaviour, redistributed damage on the KKV-9SD and improved the CE Tactical Sidearm’s accuracy. It also addressed graphics, HDR, AMD hardware and general stability issues.
Earlier claims about an 8% scout-rifle buff, a 12% Torque recoil reduction, a 15% sniper-sway reduction and extraction-window timing were not present in Bungie’s notes and have been removed.
Vault Breaker matters because it gives Bungie a lower-pressure space to test combat and progression away from the extraction loop. Whether it becomes a lasting part of Marathon will depend on player response and how well rewards carry into the wider economy.
