The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost half of the Nintendo Switch storage

Nintendo has just released some new information about the upcoming Legend of Zelda game. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch game and will launch alongside the new console.

The company has confirmed that the upcoming game will require 13.4 GB of storage for the Nintendo Switch. The first iteration of the Nintendo Switch only holds 32GB which is a surprisingly small amount. The full Nintendo Switch specs and details can be found here.

Players who were looking to buy a digital copy of the game may need to rethink this as the game will claim 40% of the storage space. There’s also no certainty that the Nintendo Switch will actually provide a full 32GB of room. Some of the memory could be dedicated to the operating system and other in-build console features. Players could be looking at around 30 GB of storage in the new console when it’s launched later this year.

The Wii U version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will also require 13GB of space.

It’s not all bad news

While it seems a little gloomy for Nintendo fans, the company has confirmed that players can get more memory for the console. Players will have the option of using microSDHC and microSDXC for saving more game data. There has been no news yet if the Nintendo Switch USB port will allow players to connect it to an external harddrive.

Nintendo has also revealed some new details about what amiibos will work with the new  Legend of Zelda game. Players will be able to use: 8-Bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link, Toon Link and The Wind Waker Zelda. Players will get some bonus in-game items for using them with the game. The full details on this are available on the official website.
