House Party has returned to Steam after being removed due to a series of “very aggressive, distasteful and hateful comments directed toward the game”. For those who don’t know, House Party is a comedic ‘porn’ game which was released onto Steam. Despite what the developer says about the game, it’s ultimately a game about having sex and masturbating in front of people during a house party.
After spending a month in Early Access, the game was removed from Steam. According to developer Eek! Games the game was removed to temporarily due to pornographic content. Steam offered the developer the chance to modify the game for “re-admission to their service”.
The developer uploaded a new blog post about the issue today which states what the issue was. According to the post, the issue was the “portrayal of sex acts” in the game. The developer has now released a censored version of the game on Steam which blocks some of this content. However, the developer hasn’t stated what has been censored and what content has been blocked.
House Party is back on Steam
House Party is available to everyone who previously owned the game. It’s now available in the Steam Store once again for purchase however, we don’t know how much of the game has been censored.
However, the developers have openly stated they will be providing an off-Steam patch for the game. This patch will return the game to it’s original form without being censored. It’s currently unknown when this patch will be releasing for owners of the game. It’s expected that the developers will be providing instructions on how to install the patch. The Pateron version of the game will remain fully uncensored and is still available for purchase through there.
“It’s not ideal” explains the developer “but the alternative was that we would not be able to return to Steam”.
House Party is still available for purchase on Steam however, it’s a censored version of the game.
