Next month, the existential sci-fi horror game SOMA will be releasing on Xbox One for the first time, Frictional Games announced today. It hits Microsoft’s home console December 1st and comes with a new Safe Mode that allows for monster-free gameplay. Check out the teaser trailer above.
SOMA comes from the developers of survival horror game Amnesia and has Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam. It takes place set in an underwater facility in the Atlantic Ocean with a plethora of terrifying monsters to face and dark secrets to uncover.
The game’s new Safe Mode will create a more exploration- and narrative-driven experience, as it removes the threat of enemy attacks. The mode might seem like a weird one for a horror game, but many agree the story of SOMA is more compelling than the scary encounters. Safe Mode will come with the Xbox One version and become available in a free update on December 1st for PC.
SOMA was originally released on September 22nd, 2015 on PC via Steam. Pick it up for Xbox One on December 1st, 2017.
