Get Event[0] for free when buying Tacoma from GOG

Tacoma is the highly anticipated follow-up from developers The Fullbright Company, creators of the critical hit Gone Home.

If you purchase Tacoma from GOG, they’ll sweeten the deal by tossing in another sci-fi mind adventure, Event[0].

Event[0] has you navigating a space station, interacting with computers and the ship’s A.I. The word recognition is more impressive than most adventure games, but still suffers from the typical limitations. I played it close to release and although it’s merely a 2-4 hour experience, I can’t remember if I finished it. I do remember a few interesting sequences and mostly having a good, if not spectacular time. Destructoid gave it a 9/10, it has a 75 on metacritic, and won several indie game awards.

I didn’t give it a glowing description but for [$0] it’s definitely worth a walk around the space station. Since Tacoma is also quite short, you may have a hankering for more cerebral sci-fi after finishing.

Tacoma is the real star of course. Steve Gaynor (Bioshock 2 & Infinite, Gone Home) has become one of the most respected creators in the industry when it comes to immersive environmental story-telling. Tacoma evolves Gone Home’s audio-logs into 3D holograms for an extra emotional punch.

Tacoma is a narrative adventure set aboard a high-tech space station in the year 2088. In space, no one can hear you bond. No one except the high-tech surveillance system which records and recreates the echoes left behind by the six people who used to live aboard the enigmatic Tacoma station. Now their lives, relationships, and peculiarities are yours to piece together, as you retrace their steps and interact with the objects they left behind.”

The free-game offer only applies to purchases made before Aug. 16th 5PM UTC, so be sure to make up your mind by then. Event[0] will be placed automatically into your GOG game library.

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
