An update is coming to Friday the 13th: The Game with a new Jason — for slaughtering counselors with — and a new map — for slaughtering counselors on. (I know you aren’t supposed to end sentences with prepositions, but I really wanted to make the joke work, okay?)
Gun Media’s YouTube channel posted the above video titled “IV – Teaser,” showing a stormy new location and a quick flash of Part IV Jason, both of which originated in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. Many players noted the teaser’s rainy weather, which has been absent from the game since launch, and wondered what that meant for the upcoming map.
Developers quickly clarified on Friday the 13th: The Game‘s official Twitter page that playable Part IV Jason and the Jarvis House map are confirmed to be coming in a free update. The new Jason will have his own set of stats and unique kills to set him apart from the other versions of the killing machine. Though specifics haven’t been revealed yet, players can probably expect Part IV Jason to use his signature machete to hack up counselors.
What’s more, the rainy weather will be a new weather effect added to all maps, not just the new Jarvis House one. The existing three maps will see new rain, thunder, and lightening effects in some matches. It is unclear if the new weather will affect lighting, environment interactions, or character movement, but it will at least add some spooky vibes to some matches.
Gun Media has not given a release date for this expansion, but we’ll keep you up to date on the latest.
