E3 2017 is open to the public for the first time ever

E3 2017 marks the year that the public are finally able to attend the biggest trade show in the industry. In an interview with GameSpot, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced that the public will be able to attend the event.

There are 15,000 tickets available for the public to purchase. The tickets will be going on sale from February 13th where gamers can purchase an Early Bird version. The Early Bird tickets only cost $150 while the full priced tickets cost $250. Tickets for the show provide access to the show floor and certain events that take place from June 13th – 15th.

This decision comes after an experiment last year where the public could attend a different show. The E3 Live Event was completely free and allowed attendees to get hands-on experience with recent and upcoming games.

According to the ESA senior VP of communication, Rich Taylor, the response from the event was the reason for this decision. They received feedback that attendees wanted to go inside the show and that exhibitors wanted more access to their fans.

This will be the first time that the public has access to the show floor at E3. Certain parts of the event will be off-limits to the general public however so the entire event is not open for public viewing.

E3 2017 will take place between June 13th – 15th and more than 200 exhibitors will be attending the event. It’s possible that some Triple A game developers won’t be attending the event again this year. EA has already confirmed that they’re skipping E3 and hosting their own event instead.
