E3 2017: EA Play Conference Summary

The EA Play event for 2017 has just ended and the company had quite a bit to show this year. It also includes the surprise reveal of a brand new IP however, details on this will be coming during the Microsoft conference tomorrow.

Here’s a recap of the conference.

Madden NFL 18

The publisher has released a new story trailer for Madden NFL 18 which reveals a brand new story mode. This story mode is titled “Longshot” and follows a new football player who is looking to make it big. According to this trailer, college football will play a major role in the game and it looks similar to “The Journey mode” from FIFA.

Battlefield 1

During the conference today, EA revealed that there are two new maps coming to the game. These two French themed maps will be releasing in June and July in several weeks time. However, the company hasn’t provided a release date for the maps.

In addition to this, EA also announced a new expansion called “The Name of The Tsar” is a Russian themed expansion which includes six new maps. There is no single player content in this expansion but it does add female soldiers to the game which is a first for the multiplayer.

FIFA 18

A trailer shown at the event confirms that the narrative-driven single-player campaign will be returning to the series. Alex Hunter, the fictional character from last year, will be taking the lead role once again however the trailer suggests that he’s considering the possibility of leaving the Premier League and moving to the MLS.

The new FIFA game will be releasing on September 26th in the US and 29th for the rest of the world. However, some fans will be able to play the game three days early according to EA.

NBA Live 18

The biggest new addition to the game seems to a RPG-like mode called “The One” where players create and customize a unique character. Players will be able to assign points to their character to customise their playstyle. This game will be allowing players to face off against other NBA teams while also return to the streets in a street ball mode. This mode will feature 5-on-5 street matches on real courts.

A demo will be arriving in August and all progress can be carried forwards to the full game. While the game will be releasing in September, there is no release date right now.

Star Wars Battlefront II

EA has confirmed that the game will contain a single player game and it apparently contains ” 3x the content” of the first game. However, the publisher didn’t go into much detail about this. The first content coming to the game will be themed around the new movie “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and will include new characters. All DLC for the game will be free and will include maps, characters, vehicles and more.

The developers of the game listened to the feedback from fans and have been working hard to improve the game. The new game includes a single player campaign, PvE content for both solo and co-op in addition to the classic PvP seen in the previous game.

Here’s the first gameplay trailer for the game:
