Dragon Ball FighterZ

The roster for Dragon Ball FighterZ continues to expand. Two classic characters, Yamcha and Tien, are joining the mix, in addition to a new original character called Android 21. The new fighters were revealed by Bandai Namco in the Japanese magazine V-Power and translated by Gematsu.

Long-time heroes Yamcha and Tien Shinhan will both be playable characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Yamcha is described as using close-range combat and “surprise attacks” derived from his signature move Wolf Fang Fist. He has two special attacks called Spirit Ball and Neo Wolf Gang Fist. His stats point to high speed and technique, with lower power, reach, and energy.

Tien, on the other hand, is described as “a high-performance fighter who overwhelms his opponents with various techniques.” One of his assist moves, Chiaotzu’s Telekinesis, can stop the opponents from moving. His Meteor special attack is Neo Tri-Beam, and stats show Tien to be a pretty well-rounded fighter with lower energy than power, speed, reach, and technique.

The brand new character coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ is the mysterious Android 21. While the character is not confirmed to be playable, we know she will be an important figure in the game’s story mode. Bandai Namco revealed Android 21 was created by Akira Toriyama and is a scientist comparable in intelligence to thevillainous  Dr. Gero, creator of the Androids.

Additionally, Chiaotzu has been confirmed as an assist character for Tien. He won’t be playable, but Chiaotzu will be able to be summoned to likely deal some sort of damage in combat.

With these three new confirmed fighters, that brings the game’s roster to 15, counting Goku and Vegeta’s Super Saiyan Blue forms. We’ll keep you updated as more news is released.

Dragon Ball FighterZ releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in early 2018.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
