Obsidian’s Grounded 2: Into the Abyss update opens the pond as one of Brookhollow Park’s largest explorable areas. Players can investigate the environment above and below the water, with new progression, discoveries and threats.
The amphibious Toe-biter Buggy can travel on land and through water. The update also coincides with Grounded 2 arriving on PlayStation 5, alongside the existing Xbox and PC versions.
A larger traversal problem
The pond changes more than scenery. Moving between land and water creates different sightlines and escape routes, while an amphibious Buggy reduces the friction of crossing the biome repeatedly.
Obsidian has not confirmed the previously reported depth layers measured in metres, a snapping-turtle boss, fixed oxygen timers, an Aquatic Forging tier or the invented resource list. Those claims have been removed.
The useful performance question is how the game manages visibility, simulation and streaming while moving rapidly between the surface and underwater spaces. That requires measured testing on each platform.
