Splatfest

Nintendo is gearing up for the next online multiplayer event in Splatoon 2 by announcing a new theme to join other great debates such as Mayo vs. Ketchup, Sci-fi vs. Fantasy, which way to hang the toilet paper roll, and more. The topic for the next Splatfest, for European players at least, will be Film vs. Book. Now we can truly determine which one is better — the book or the movie.

The upcoming Splatfest theme was revealed on Nintendo UK’s Twitter today. Do you prefer to sit back and watch a movie or take in your entertainment through reading a book? Make your preference known by choosing your team and fighting for glory in Splatoon 2‘s timed event. The inky competition kicks off on Saturday December 9th at 3:00 p.m. GMT and runs for a full 24 hours.

So far only Europe’s Splatfest theme and date have been revealed, but we should hear from Nintendo of America and Japan for their respective details soon. They will likely take place on separate weekends with different topics for the teams, but there have been theme overlaps in different regions before.

To align yourself with either Team Film or Team Book in Splatoon 2, head to the Splatfest video screen in Inkopolis Square as soon as it appears in-game. Be sure to pop on your Splatfest tee and unlock its abilities so you have a leg up when the competition begins. These events are scored with three numbers: popular vote, solo wins, and team wins. So there is power in numbers, but ultimately the team with the most wins will come out on top.

The next European Splatfest begins Saturday December 9th at 3:00 p.m. GMT. Are you Team Film or Team Book? Let us know in the comments below!

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
