Daily Gaming Deals – Metal Gear Solid V, Thumper, Street Fighter V,

There are always plenty of gaming deals floating around on older and/or mediocre games (Mass Effect: Andromeda…) but a few of the titles today are too great not to mention

Metal Gear Solid V  (Xbox)

$5 USD at Newegg with code EMCRHBF37 https://t.co/4Z1FLE2UNO

My GOTY for 2015 was a drastic shift for console Metal Gear Solid. Going to the complete opposite end of the spectrum after MGSIVThe Phantom Pain embraced open-world stealth-action and pushed the usual fantastical story to the side.

Yes the game feels unfinished due to the controversial Konami/Kojima fallout, but what’s there was still worth full price, and at $5 is an absolute must buy for Xbox owners that haven’t experienced this game yet.

The controls are crisp, the systems are balanced and fun to grind, but the sandbox elements are the star of the show. Attaching extraction balloons to just about everything is rewarding and hilarious. Kojima may take his stories to goofy levels of seriousness, but his humor is just as goofy, providing a great balance.

THUMPER (Steam)

$12 USD https://t.co/bZvUDQ5jqZ

If the sale could only be on one platform, I’m happy it’s on Steam as I couldn’t imagine beating the more difficult sections without dedicating a finger each to both left and right.

love that this game exists. It’s the best kind of indie development. A truly unique idea and world that will haunt you for months after. Fans of rythm games that don’t mind darker themes will be in heaven (or a really fun hell). Musicians will embrace the complicated polyrythms but even those without musical talent will be able to get by using visual cues and nodding their head along with the complex music.

One of my favorite of 2016, a true gem that needs to be experienced at least once.

Overcooked (Xbox, Amazon physical)

$15 https://t.co/ffSeI2KiwJ

In terms of mass appeal to gamers of all skill levels, I’d say Overcooked takes the crown from Rocket League as best couch co-op. Controls and mechanics that anyone can understand and enjoy make this game one of the best party games in years. Communication is key and not everything can be done at once, causing confusion and chaotic fun.

The physical edition is normally $30 I believe, so this is a great deal for those that like having the disc.

Did I miss any? Let us know if you’ve come across any steller savings.

okay

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
