The in-game event for Overwatch’s one-year anniversary kicks off today. Enjoy Blizzard’s celebratory seasonal event until June 12th.

If you haven’t played before, you can try the game for free and/or snag it for cheap, and you long-time players will enjoy the event’s skins, emotes, and arena maps. See the event preview below.

Three new arena maps are included in the Overwatch anniversary event, including Black Forest, Castillo and Necropolis. These maps will stay in the game after the event ends, but they’re only available in arcade and custom game modes.

Over 100 new cosmetic items are included in the anniversary event’s loot boxes. The heroes are all getting awesome skins, such as Beekeeper Mei, Cruiser D.Va, Sentai Genji, and Cyberian Zarya.

You’ll also have access to new dance emotes and sprays for every Overwatch character.

You can unlock these items with in-game credits, or you can give Blizzard all your money. Each anniversary loot box guarantees at least one of the new items. May your loot pulls be ever in your favor.

The Overwatch anniversary event coincides with the digital release of the Game of the Year Edition, which is currently on sale on PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, and Blizzard’s Battle.net. This edition includes the original game, 10 Bonus Loot Boxes, and Origin Skins for five heroes, plus items for other Blizzard games.

After the first week of the event, the Game of the Year Edition will jump up to its full price of $59.99.

Additionally, Overwatch will be free to download and play for players on PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The free weekend lasts from May 26th- 29th.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
