You can play Here They Lie without VR and with more features very soon

Experience the horror without a VR headset starting tomorrow.

Sony and Tangentlemen’s horror game Here They Lie will soon be playable without a PlayStation Virtual Reality headset, devs announced on the PlayStation Blog today.

According to co-creative director Cory Davis, former VR-exclusive Here They Lie will get an update tomorrow February 21st to add PS4 and PS4 Pro support. So yes, PS4 Pro owners will be able to experience the chilling horror game in shiny 4K.

Additionally, Davis said the PS4 Pro VR version will get an “all-around higher quality render-mode.” That means “better shadows, post-processing effects, dynamic flashlight shadows, and ambient occlusion!”

If you already own the original VR version of Here They Lie, you’ll get the Standard version for free via a downloadable patch. Anyone who purchases the game after tomorrow will receive both the VR and Standard game versions.

Tomorrow’s update comes with more than just standard gameplay support though. In the blog post, Davis said devs have implemented as many player requests into the upcoming patch as they could.

New features will include “a controller configuration screen, the highly requested Chapter Select screen, subtitles (only for the Standard version), and a slew of visual upgrades — like improved anti-aliasing and lighting across the board.”

For the PSVR version of Here They Lie, players will experience smoother, more accurate head tracking, as well as sharper visuals.

Davis also ensured players they’ll be able to switch seamlessly between the Virtual Reality and Standard modes.

Here They Lie is available now on the PlayStation Store for $19.99.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
