Press’ first impressions of Call of Cthulhu, here’s what they’re saying

A new trailer titled ‘The Preview to Madness Trailer’ for the highly anticipated Call of Cthulhu has been released to celebrate the game going gold. It also unveils the first impressions from video game media websites including IGN, Gamereactor, The Sixth Axis and more. The horror RPG releases on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on October 30.

“Gorgeous and very lovecraftian” – IGN, “The atmosphere is amazing” – Gameractor.dk, “I truly loved the detective skill system” – TheSixthAxis, “Not since Resident Evil 7 have I felt so gripped by atmosphere” – God is a Geek.

Call of Cthulhu is an adaptation of Chaosium’s tabletop pen & paper RPG. You play as ex war-vet and now alcoholic private investigator Edward Pearce. Your task is to solve the death of the Hawkins family whose stately home perished in an inferno. However, the groundskeeper isn’t impressed to find you lurking around. So you have to negotiate your way into the house.

Clues help you construct an image of the events that happened. However, the more you learn the closer you get to ‘the abyss of madness’.

Are you super excited to solve this mystery? If playing the game is too much, we’ll have our full review of Call of Cthulhu by our reviewer Matthew Owen for you soon!

Lachlan Cosgrove

Lachlan's passion for gaming started when he played DOS games like Commander Keen and Wacky Races. His passion grew when he discovered his Aunt's Atari 2600 and was given a Game Boy for Christmas from his Pa. His favourite console has been the PlayStation 1. Right now he has become a little lazy with gaming but still enjoys the occasional FIFA session. He hopes to get back into playing games more regularly so he can switch off from the real world like he did as a Kid. He's excited about the introduction of VR and hopes for some great VR titles.
