Build a Global Property Portfolio with Buy Somewhere – a Location Based Game

Now we can at least pretend to buy property in Australia.

PAX Aus in Melbourne this Saturday will feature a world reveal for new game: Buy Somewhere. A game that seems to rely on a similar location based system that Pokémon Go uses, and also involves purchasing real world property. The game has been in development for over three years and there’s been a limited amount of information released so far. The website for Buy Somewhere simply has a countdown for a live stream of the event on Saturday.

Buy Somewhere turns the world around you into a giant game board. Players compete for the ownership of real world property: buy your house, local café or landmarks like Big Ben, The Golden Gate Bridge, The Sydney Opera House and even the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in your journey to build your property empire and make your fortune!”

Details for the reveal.

If you’re lucky enough to be going to PAX, Buy Somewhere highly encourages PAX goers to attend the reveal. The event will take place in the GameSpot Theatre at 4:30 PM. Those in the crowd will receive an invitation to the beta, an exclusive gold character token, and a chance to participate in the game. There will also be a reveal trailer and the first-ever gameplay demo.

Also be on the lookout for anyone wearing large chests on their heads on the show floor. If you happen to come across one you will receive a dice that can be used in the game back at the Buy Somewhere booth. The dice can be used to roll against all 9 levels of property including iconic Melbourne landmarks. If you roll higher you’ll collect the property’s collectable card. When you earn the 9th card , you earn the Mr. Somewhere limited edition pin. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense now, but it should after Saturday.

Buy Somewhere Booth Location.

The concept of the game sounds intriguing and the developers speak highly of the game. It will be interesting to see how it performs on Saturday.

Tickets are still available for PAX Aus on Saturday but are running low.

Lachlan's passion for gaming started when he played DOS games like Commander Keen and Wacky Races. His passion grew when he discovered his Aunt's Atari 2600 and was given a Game Boy for Christmas from his Pa. His favourite console has been the PlayStation 1. Right now he has become a little lazy with gaming but still enjoys the occasional FIFA session. He hopes to get back into playing games more regularly so he can switch off from the real world like he did as a Kid. He's excited about the introduction of VR and hopes for some great VR titles.
