Binding of Isaac Dev Reveals Four Nintendo Switch Games

Nicalis has revealed four new titles coming to Nintendo Switch in 2017. With The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ already doing well on the Switch — and Cave Story+ on the way — Nicalis seems pretty confident more of their games will do well on Nintendo’s hybrid console.

The game developer/ publisher announced the four titles in a press release today ahead of the E3 reveals. The games include Tiny Barbarian DX, Ittle Dew 2+, Blade Strangers, and The End Is Nigh. Two are Switch exclusives while the others are also coming to PS4. Read on for more details.

Tiny Barbarian DX

Release date: Q3 2017

Platform: Switch

From developer StarQuail Games comes Tiny Barbarian DX, a 2D platformer with combo-based hack-and-slash combat and a retro pixel art style. The game is inspired by heroic fantasy fiction and offers two-player co-op and various unlockable game modes.

Ittle Dew 2+

Release date: Q3 2017

Platform: Switch

Next on the list is Ittle Dew 2+, an upgraded Nintendo Switch port of the action-adventure puzzle game from developer Ludosity. Take sassy Ittle and her flying friend Tippsie on adventures in their hand-drawn 3D world with a magic map and fun weapons. You might even get them home from this mysterious island.

Blade Strangers

Release date: Q4 2017

Platforms: Switch, PS4

Time for an anime fighting game. Blade Strangers is coming from veteran Japanese developer Studio Saizensen with a refined four-button control scheme that will suit both beginners and combo-hungry pros. Characters from previous Studio Saizensen games, Nicalis games (like Cave Story+), and other surprise guests will be available as fighters.

The End Is Nigh

Release date: Q3 2017

Platforms: Switch, PS4

Finally, from The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen is The End is Night, a sprawling adventure-platformer. This new title is still pretty disturbing, but like, in a less religious way. Maybe. Control Ash, a small black blob trying to make a friends out of the body parts he finds scattered throughout a post-apocalyptic world.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
