February’s free PS Plus games will be available for download Tuesday, February 7th, but the list is already here, awaiting judgement.
For what it’s worth, I’ve included the metacritic score after the platform
Little Big Planet 3 – PS4 – 79
LBP has always been a series with vast potential that scares away many gamers with its intimidating tool box. LBP 3 attempts to bridge the gap by introducing pre-built components and options for simpler tools. The deep stuff is still there, they just added a kiddie pool.
If you’re looking for a pure platformer, you won’t find much of that here.
Not a Hero – PS4 – 74
A fast-paced 2D side-scrolling platform shooter with equal parts violence and humour. From the makers of OlliOlli.
Starwhal – PS4/PS3 – 78
Local multiplayer chock full of modes and chaotic fun. The mechanics are surprisingly deep and a difficult single-player mode awaits the friendless.
Anna: Extended Edition – PS3 – 75
A port of a 2012, PC game, Anna is first-person adventure horror with a sanity mechanic. It received mixed reviews at the time, criticizing poor performance and the lack of suspense due to your character’s invulnerability.
Could be worth a few scares.
Ninja Senki DX – PS4/Vita – 64
A throwback to challenging action games like MegaMan and Ninja Gaiden. You’ll start with just two lives, earning more with kills and collectables. Mercifully, players can start each level over with another two lives upon death.
Also contains three endings depending on point totals.
Torquel – PS4/Vita – N/A
An indie game so barebones it forgot to include a save feature. “rolling and extending” are the main mechanics in this physics-based puzzle platformer. The reviews I did find were none too kind.
Remember, you can still grab last month’s games Day of the Tentacle Remastered, This War of Mine: The Little Ones, Blazerush, The Swindle, Azkend 2, and Titan Souls. If you haven’t played This War of Mine and find the idea of a gritty, war-time Sims, check it out.
